Living a life of purpose, meaning and value. That’s what Purpose In Action Coaching is here to help you achieve as an individual.

How do you do that? By seeking to differentiate yourself as much as possible.

What does differentiation mean? It means embracing any and all opportunities to have new experiences – ideally those that have never been had by anyone before. It requires self knowledge. You need to learn about who you are and put yourself out into the world as YOURSELF. NOT as the version of yourself that has been constructed by the beliefs and assumptions of the people around you. This is the case for most people.

Living other people’s stories

“A good religious person, must attend your place of worship at a specific time regularly”. “Being smart means you need to be able to read and write to a specific level by a specific age”. “Eating meat is bad” and “those who have concerns about immigration are racist”.

These are all things you have been taught. And they’re all wrong!

Whilst you continue to adopt the worldviews of others, you will not be able to live a life of genuine purpose. You will simply be living out someone else’s story of you. If you don’t know what those stories are, you may well be doing more harm than good. In fact, I know you are!

Living your own story – your life of purpose

Going “against the grain” will be uncomfortable. But you can take solace that you will be going WITH the real grain and see that most everyone around you is actually moving counter to the currents of life. This brings a sense of ease and rightness about your approach. However, you will still have to deal with the resistance of the Non Player Characters around you.

I remember playing the original Grand Theft Auto. In comparrison, games today are far more tolerant of crime – much more like real life… However, in GTA it didn’t take much to rile the police into chasing you. These NPCs were programmed on a hair trigger. That seems increasingly to be the case in our hyper-bolic emotional “civil” society. Now, the NPCs reacting to a difference of opinion can warrant death threats (I know some people who have had these, from people who no doubt consider themselves to be Good).

But we must do what is right, not what is expedient. Expedient toward material (shallow / meaningless) goals, because we have avoided triggering strong emotions in others. Living this way essential turns you into an NPC…

Living a life of purpose is hard. But from it, comes meaning.

Purpose is elemental

Much of the work needed to identify and pursue a life of purpose, rests upon the classical elements (Earth, Water, Air, Fire) that make up our being. If you would like to learn more about how I can help you to work with these elements, Book a Quick Call.
