The services

What is a fractional COO?

A fractional COO is an experienced operations leader who works with a business part-time — installing operating structure, developing the leadership team, and governing performance — without the cost or permanence of a full-time hire.

What is the difference between Founder Operational Advisory and a Fractional COO?

Founder Operational Advisory installs operational structure and develops the leadership team to hold it, then hands ownership back — a time-limited engagement of three to six months. Fractional COO is embedded, ongoing operational leadership for businesses that need continuous governance.

How is this different from a management consultant?

A consultant typically diagnoses and reports. Purpose In Action is a Systems Designer: it installs the structure, develops the people to hold it, and hands ownership back — so the improvement stays after the engagement ends.

What is the Firm Foundation Framework?

The proprietary structure installed in every engagement, in sequence: Financial Visibility, Decision Authority, Leadership Rhythm, and Accountability Design.

Who it is for

Who do you work with?

Founder-led businesses between $500k and $15M in professional services, legal practices, digital agencies, consultancies and construction, across the UK and United States.

How do I know which service is right for us?

If the right systems do not yet exist and revenue is $500k–$2M, Founder Operational Advisory is usually the fit. If drift keeps returning and revenue is $1M+ with compounding complexity, a Fractional COO is usually the fit. The Operational Clarity Call settles it.

Is this only for businesses in difficulty?

No. Much of the work is preventative — installing structure before growth outruns it. The best time is usually just before the strain becomes acute.

Cost and engagement

How much does it cost?

Founder Operational Advisory is typically $3,500–$7,500 per month. Embedded Fractional COO support is typically $8,500–$15,000 per month, depending on depth.

How long is a typical engagement?

A Founder Operational Advisory engagement typically runs three to six months — install, stabilise, exit. A Fractional COO engagement is ongoing for as long as embedded governance is required.

What happens when the engagement ends?

With Advisory, ownership is handed back to your leadership team and the structure stays in place. The aim is structural independence, not dependence on us.
